Compositing for Visual Effects
THEME 1
For my three Make Believe images, I will be exploring a personal mini-theme of gigantism, surrealism, and mystery. Through this theme, I aim to represent the concept of a parallel world. One that mirrors our own, yet exists alongside it. In this imagined reality, familiar environments are transformed as humans coexist with fantastical creatures and magnified versions of animals and insects.
THEME 2
For my three Emergence images, I will be following my own mini theme of earth and body. Through this theme, I aim to represent the idea of grounding oneself in the world around them and the process of personal growth and self-discovery that emerges from that connection.

THEME 1
For my Capture/Release project, I’ve been collecting inspiration images that explore distortion, glitch aesthetics, and the way the human form can be abstracted. These images link to my theme of body image, showing the tension between reality and the expectations shaped by society and online culture.
THEME 2
For my Digital Glue project, I’m continuing with the theme of body image, but this time instead of working with blurs and glitch effects, I’ll be focusing on cutting, layering, and rearranging parts of images.
The inspiration I’ve collected shows how powerful it can be when the human face and body are fragmented and pieced back together in unusual ways. I like this approach because it feels more direct and confronting which makes the theme of body image even clearer.
The fractured, collage-like style reflects how identity is constantly pulled apart and reassembled by outside pressures, especially online.
Assignment 3 - The Circle Re-Imagining
The Circle is a dystopian novel that explores themes of surveillance, technology, and the erosion of privacy in modern society. The story follows Mae Holland as she begins working at a powerful tech company built on the belief that complete transparency and constant digital connection are the keys to progress.
One of the most memorable aspects of the text for me was the description of the company’s buildings and environments. They often appeared polished, sleek, and futuristic on the surface, but carried an underlying sense of artificial perfection. The imagery that stood out most included glowing screens, repeated patterns, and the constant presence of surveillance—subtle reminders that nothing goes unseen. This contrast between the calm, controlled exterior and the suffocating reality beneath it made the setting both fascinating and unsettling. As I read, I felt a growing discomfort at the idea of a world where privacy is fully stripped away.
The main feeling I want to leave with my audience is a sense of being trapped and observed, as if they are in a sterile, almost prison-like environment. I want the visuals and ideas in my work to reflect the tension between appearance and reality, and to evoke the unease that runs through the novel.
